Who likes Ulfric Stormcloak?

Hate him. Not some hardcoe pro-Empire guy either. I'd rather stay out of it. That said, if it came down to it the Empire has my vote.

This is funny. People complain about him being arrogant and so on. But actually, I think he's quite nice to the PC (at least he's not more arrogant than any other jarl). He even tells a character who won't join him to be careful out there (or what his exact words are). Not so arrogant, IMO.

(Then when it comes to other things he might be arrogant, I agree on that. It's not like he's putting any efforts in maintaining his city, catching murderers, and so on...)

Of course he is 'nice' to the PC, hes trying to get Dovahkiin to put him on the friggin' throne, but being 'nice' has nothing to do with arrogance. He brands anyone who isn't in his ranks as not being a "True son or daughter" of skyrim, same as the "If you don't agree with me you're stupid" arguments that people who can't defend their thoughts say. He paints himself and his cause as being infallible, while the Empire can seemingly do no right and is evil.

I hate that guy. Stupid Windhelm, and the way they treat Argonians, and Dunmer.

I prefer to side with the Imperials, for many reasons which I'm not currently interested in stirring up an argument about. That said, I do feel that Ulfric, while flawed in many ways, has a lot of admirable qualities.

Ulfric never says anything against the Dunmer. He also maintains the precedent of previous jarls of allowing the Dunmer sovereignty- so, what's to hate about that? You've been listening to that skooma swiller Ambarys too much. Even the other Dunmer think he's off.

They gave the Dunmer refuge without asking any compensation or promises of fealty in return. Yeah, those damn Nords. Maybe you need to make a trip to the Refugee's Rest and read up on recent (by elven standards) http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Decree_of_Monument.

He keeps us living in a squalor hole. The murdered king and his father let us in, not Ulfric. I think he does not care, he just want us to leave, because we are not sons of skyrim. He does not even care of the bandits attacking dunmer people. He just care the Nords, and openly dislike the elven or the "no nord" kind.

That's the most logic i've ever seen outside of my own posts. Ulfric never treats any race like people say he does.

The decree is from 4 E 20 .... Ulfric was not even born in that tim, and Skyrim was fully into the Empire.

So the Dunmer were supposed to not only be given free land, but the best areas of the city? Well, that's chutzpah for you.

He never says anything against Dunmer. Or Argonians. Or Khajiit. Go find me the dialogue where he "openly dislikes" them. Go on. We'll wait.

But he is maintaining it. I suppose you'd like him better if he kicked all the Dunmer back to Morrowind?

He dont care, I dont say he openly says anything, for that is the people in windhelm, for example the drunk guy that goes by night to secram insults, he and his band of bullys. And what the guards do? Nothing. Nothing at all.

You'd almost think he was busy fighting a war with two empires or something. :ermm:

You dont get the point. As a Redoran thinker, firstly , he killed his king, he is not honorable. What kind of people will follow a murderer? Bandits, lawless, and decacent people. So, you can see the reflex in the society of windhelm. A bunch of excluded and insulted refugees, one or two decent people. and a bunch of mercenaries.

Honorable? The King was a boy. He shout him to death. What got that of honorable? He killed the king, Imposed his chaos, and just helped the Thalmor weaken the Empire. So great deed!

If he didn't have the foresight to see that maybe agreeing to the fight was a bad move he probably wasn't fit to be High King in the first place.

Torygg respected Ulfric. Even Elisif said that Torygg would join Ulfric′s cause if asked. But no. The so "honorable" man, walked in to the palace and killed him. Torygg was no coward and that costed him the life and skyrim so many other lifes. Pointless. His behaviour was just the one of a barbarian, blood thirsty. He wanted power, and for that, he murdered Torygg instead of counceling him.

Ive read so many peoples remarks on how they dislike Ulfric...does anyone out there besides me actually like him? I feel so alone...for some reason I really enjoy killing Imperial soldiers especially when they have a stormcloak soldier in custody.
My allegiance was always going to be with the native owners of the land (Nords, Stormcloaks), I mean I understand where the imperials are coming from trying to bring order to a reasonably backward civilization in order to make it more productive there, train soldiers etc., but I don't think it's their call. Especially since the current general has absolutely no respect for the dragon-born or the importance of it, funny considering past emperor(s) have been dragon-born. But to answer you question with this in mind, I didn't really like Ulfric simply because he was a racist, he hated anything that wasn't a Nord, and a Nord that went by 'the old ways' and there for respected his birthright, and there for anyone who kissed his ass. Even if you're his commanding officer, if you're not a Nord you catch him out dropping occasional hate comments about other races.

On a separate note: It's a shame that by the time you become a Stormcloak officer there's no more quests, you can't bask in your glory by going to a Stormcloak camp and telling 10 guys to come with you and raid a random fort with you as their officer. But oh well, that's just something I felt the quest-line was leading up to then drops you off.
