Why are console players getting less than the PC players?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:53 am

A advantage of the console is, that we can't use console commands. In oblivion it totally ruined the game for me, because i was never able not to cheat :$ Too bad I can't spawn a couple thousand of cabbages or 30 dragons though :P

At least XBox doesn't force you to be online or install a 3rd party system, unlike the PC version that has to deal with Draconian Steamworks. I'd take no forced connection over mods any day of the week.

How is that an advantage? You not being able to not cheat simply indicates a lack of self-control. I'm not meaning to come off as mean, here, but that's not a qualifying advantage for consoles. If anything, having console commands is an advantage for PC users because it allows us more freedom with how we play our game (not to mention allowing us to fix all those stupid broken quests).

And as for why console players are getting less: TES is a primarily PC-based franchise. Skyrim in itself is giving a lot to consoles because the PC version was an Xbox port (had it been the other way around, maybe the menu screens wouldn't be so hard to operate using mouse + keyboard controls). If anything, the PC users are clearly on the short-end of the stick here because we are getting a ported game.

As for the delayed patches and lack of modding capability, blame Micro$oft and $ony. They have to put patches through their own approval process before they get released, and mods are a no-no, because those could potentially break the game and the console (meaning the manufacturers would have to deal with all kinds of crazy complaints) and mods would also provide free content (meaning the manufacturers cannot milk a cut of the profits like they can with expansions and DLC).

That's not an advantage. That's just you lacking any kind of self-control :P

It's christmass damn it! And we PC users should do a good deed and open some console user eyes so that they see that consoles vs PC is

like bike vs motorcyle...
like peeping vs six
like broccoli vs ice cream

While I agree that PC is a superior platform due to functionality (I play on 360 BTW before people rage on me) ... Broccoli is so vastly superior to ice cream it isn't even a competion.

Gentlemen, we need broccoli ice cream. Now.
?1 cup broccoli
?(1/2 cup sugar,) or more to taste
?Pinch of salt
?3/4 cup heavy cream
?3/4 cup sour cream

Cook the broccoli, with a pinch of salt, until soft, drain well and blend.
Add heavy cream and sour cream to the puree and stir.
Taste to see if you need sugar and can add lime maybe, according to taste.
Chill then put into ice cream maker and follow instructions.

LOL - Googled and this is one of many that came up.

This game looks like crap, has a xbox UI, bad animations, and content was limited to what could fit on a crappy DVD. Thanks to consoles, our game is dumbed down to appeal to the millions of drones.

Stop complaining, this game was made for you, you don't like it time to return it.

I love you and I love this comment.

1 hour later.....

*sues Microsoft for heatdamaged console*

This. You can break your game with the console if you don't know what you're doing with it.

I still like not being forced to be online, Xbox doesn't force me to be on Xbox live, unlike the PC version where you have to be online or at least Steam forces you online thus defeating the purpose of offline mode and lastly patch 1.2, on 360 I could uninstall that patch and not have any problems but with PC no I have to have that patch because Steam wants me to have it without the option to decline it. Console version in this aspect is superior to the PC version.

Oh yes, terrible shame that. Yup, there is NO WAY at all to not play Skyrim on a PC without having to download steam. Nope, none at all. No other way. Mmm hmm.

I mean the console being stripped, not the console

What I'm talking about here is the PC in-game console. Remove a few features of it then give it to us.
Of course, the PC version will remain the same with some advantages
Ah, I see. Thought you meant to take away some of the features of Skyrim from the PS3  But I still don't see a function for it. What exactly do you want a dumbed down console command for? I just don't understand why.

I don't see the problem. Who isn't online these days?
You're online while you're typing this. Why is being logged into steam such a huge deal?

That's your opinion. I can downgrade my PC version using manual patching (copy a previous patch's files and overwrite them, then start Steam in offline mode). Steam is popular with many gamers, so your claim that the console is superior because of your Steam experience is bunk.

Don't worry console people, when CK comes out and modding community shows what it can do, we will be here to comfort you for making the wrong choice! :hugs:

Because I don't have a choice, it's either Forced Steam, don't buy the game, pirate the game (Don't do it, you screw the Devs), or get it for Xbox/PS3.

Depends on what PC you use. If you mean PC as a whole, then yes. But if you mean PC as individual PCs, then that's debatable.

Although I will admit that I find console hardware to be... disappointing. I bought an Xbox and opened it up, and what I saw inside was not something I'd stick in my PC.

Why do the consoels not have an in-game console?

Easy, because if it did you could break your consolewith it bye making it do too much. Mircosoft don't allow it. And they are going ot make a 'stripped down' version simply because it is a debugging tool, not a cheating system. Consoles don't have mods and therefore don't need it, if you want cheats so bad (though it ruins your game if you cheat) just play on a PC.

I meant as a whole, I am not going to get a lesser PC I want a monster that will eat Skyrim and the mods that will add to it in a big way.

At least it's not like what Ubisoft has done... you know, have to stay connected to their servers while playing so your save games are in sync with them (see Silent Hunter V for an example). If your ISP goes down, you don't get to play at all.

I don't like using Steam myself, but I don't blame Bethesda for their decision.... I blame the software pirates.
