Cut Brotherhood of Steel alternate endings

Canonical Ending Predictions

Winner: Railroad/Minutemen alliance/Evacuated Institute

Institute: The evacuated Institute spreads to other states and abandons the Commonwealth, taking over former science-installations and facilities which they fill with Synths and Coursers. Future Vault Dwellers will be do missions for the Institute to recover scientific technology or mad science experiments ala the Big Empty. They will serve as the Followers of the Apocalypse/Mad Scientists of future games.

Brotherhood of Steel: Having lost Maxson, Prydwen, and Liberty Prime, they will proceed to be far weaker than before but still strong. Isolated patrols and chapters like the ones in Cambridge will be encountered as well as people trying to actively recruit new members. They won't be a major Empire from now on but just one faction amongst many.

The Railroad: With the Institute destroyed, they will switch over to being a generic anti-slavery organization and help you smuggle various groups like ghouls, Synths, and regular slaves away from the people who want to be wiped out.

The Minutemen: Will become the rulers of the Commonwealth and will hire the PCs as bounty-hunters and/or work to spread the law of the Commonwealth Republic. They'll be the beginnings of a much-weaker NCR group.

yeah but East Coast becoming NCR-lite is boring though. Is is a game about the inevitability of War. East and West coast living semi-peacefully lessens that potential for conflict. (even though in reality it makes the most sense)

I think NCR is going to collapse back into feuding city-states, personally.

And Commonwealth NCR and Capital Wasteland WON'T be expanding.

Are you sure about that? He gets demoted to knight, and if he were a scribe before being Elder, he would have been put there. You may be attributing Elijah's being a scribe to McNamara.

Listening to idle dialoge in the bunker say that Macnamara saved Hardin and that he won't challenge him directly because of it.

Too boring. Provides no reasonable set up for future games. Nevermind that players overwhelmingly do not prefer the RR if achievements are to be believed.

*Yawwwn* since when is breaking an iphone genocide? Break down the word geno-cide and come back to me. Gen3's are clones (of a single genotype) at best and highly sophisticated toasters at worst.

I can't believe so many people are buying into this "synths are people too" garbage. What makes me feel bad about the BoS ending is the murder of the scientists in the Institute and to a lesser extent the humans in the Railroad (at least they fought back).

He sure in the hell didn't put me in my place. I killed him and the rest of them before jumping off using my jet pack for the fall. Lol Him and the rest went down like a bunch of sissies.

I just heard this and was going to make a thread on it, but you beat me.

This was fantastic! It's a damn shame it got cut. Also, I would have accepted just being able to replace Maxson with just about anyone - Ingram? She seems nice.

I agree, RR is the least popular ending. The top endings are BoS and Institute with Minutemen as the third option. It's most likely to be the BoS as the true ending seeing as Bethesda always go with BoS endings as canon and BoS also is the most popular ending option. If only we could put Danse in charge, I would join the BoS in a heart beat.

Now, hold on there... Maxson is many things and not all of them praiseworthy, but he's hardly a spoiled brat. If anything, he's pretty humble and dedicated to the Brotherhood. He also isn't ruling through fear at all, in fact most BoS members downright admire him. And using nukes against any single dangerous target isn't going against the Codex, afaik.

It's funny because that was my first ending. Once I read how the other factions' endings played out, I got super jealous because of how much cooler they are.

It would still create a crater, and the entire purpose of hoarding technology is so that they won't create a nuke that destroyed the previous world. That goes against what the teaching was.

The purpose of hoarding technology is so no one uses it to destroy the world again, but this localized detonation destroyed the Institute and the Institute only. No clash with the tenets there. The Brotherhood also clearly believes they are the sole party responsible enough to be allowed to use technology at their own discretion. Anyone outside the BoS, and the player themselves may disagree with the idea, but it still doesn't make the BoS hypocrites. They're following their own code to the letter.

That seems wrong....that is treason!! To follow a Synth in a revolution against our elder? Are you insane? Would you seriously become a Synth's pawn in a scheme undoubtedly intended to destabilize and likely even destroy the Brotherhood? Mutiny of the highest order and conspiring with the enemy!!

The Codex is about stopping other people from using technology because their judgment isn't trustworthy. It says nothing about the Brotherhood not using it.

I think this thread is seriously jumping the gun....none of us should be so quick to discuss treason....especially not when it is being proposed by a Synth!! First and foremost we need to take a hard look at the fact that whatever Elder Maxson is accused of is being presented by a spy infiltration-droid, secondly(and ideally after the synth has been dealt with) we need to look at what(if any) the alleged crime is and act in a way that best serves mankind.

Yep. You know, it's kinda like in countries where the police and armed forces are allowed to use firearms, but the general populace isn't. Is that hypocritical?
