Can anyone get to the site? I can't get there. If you can, can you tell me 40-21 if they're up. Thanx

Skyrim in top 10 at least.

Watch it get number 1, thus trivializing the entire list.

Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 1, 2 and NV all not even close to the top 10

:ign:

edit: Probably either Skyrim or a Final Fantasy game will get #1. Or maybe a Mario game, seeing as it's IGN.

Not really. Oblivion isn't exactly a great RPG. It takes more than character custimisation and a medieval setting to make an RPG. I'd say at best it's an adventure game with simplified RPG elements.

Fallout 3 and 2 had a better story and a better setting (excluding extended lore, Oblivion was pretty generic with visuals and characters). Fallout 3 also had better visuals and better character models.

The only thing Oblivion has going for it is the combat and maybe AI (lol), which really wasn't anything special.

Fallout 3, being my personal favorite, had a piss poor story, Oblivions blew it out of the water.

I just gotta say I love this thread. The amount of nerd rage in here could power New York for a year. If we could change the rage into currency the US would never be in debt again. If the rage were a weapon the world would be cowering in fear.

I suppose a better term would be more creative, or less derivative, which I think counts for more than writing in video games. Even though it didn't make a whole lot of sense when examined closely.

Fallout 3's wasn't quite as all-up-in-your-face as Oblivion's story though.

But agreed, they were both pretty boring.

That one floored me as I found FO:2 so utter silly at times it took away my (yes I'm going to use the word)immersion. I would have thought the other way around.

Hmmm, why did I think there would be interesting discussion about the list. Should have realized it would be "IGN svcks" "those aren't RPGs" and "why isn't _____ higher/lower". Ah, well.

Personally, I'm just looking through the list to see how many I've played. It's running a bit under half, since there are certain platforms or series that I've just not dealt with (like, I never really played any Might & Magic, Ogre Battle, or Dragon Warrior. Did play Dragon Quest 8. Never did any Sega, or Nintendo besides SNES. Etc, etc, etc.)

So far it looks like:
90-100 5 or 6
Lunar ?, Shadow Hearts, FF8, Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, Diablo 3
80-89 4
FO:NV, FF9, Shadowrun, Kingdom Hearts
70-79 4
Illusion of Gaia, Front Mission 3, Grandia II, Bard's Tale
60-69 4
Persona 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, FF10, Chrono Cross
50-59 4
ME2, Ultima 7, WIld Arms, Golden Sun
40-49 3 or 4
Xenogears, Pool of Radiance, Lunar:SSS, Suikoden II ?
30-39 4.5
Jade Empire, NWN, Morrowind, Fallout, (never played Poke Black/White, did mess around with earlier ones)

Kind of a mixed bag. With some of the older JRPGs, I played enough of them Way Back In The Day? that it's hard to remember exactly. (Like, I know I played a Breath of Fire, and I think 2 or 3 Grandia's, and a Suikoden. But not sure exactly which ones.)

Yeah, it's a bit of an odd list overall. But it's hard for any "top 100" list not to be. Especially when it's on a wide-ranging topic.

The only way a list like this works is by category: JRPG's, WRPG's, time period, etc. Comparing Final Fantasy or Mario and Luigi: partners in time to something like TW2 or Fallout 3 is a [censored] joke.

Even though the order is somewhat weird, I'm still kinda surprised to see older or less popular games that usually get no recognition.

My sarcasm detector doesn't work right now so I'm not sure If you're being serious or not. I admit I haven't played the multiplayer so maybe it gets better that way, but as a single player rpg the game is horrible (In my humble opinion).

I don't agree with the list at all. For starters, I don't think JRPGs should be on the same list with western RPGs. They tend to have a very linear level progression, pre-made characters, no real choices and consequences and are usually very linear. The girls look nice though, I'll give them that.
It's a better game. It isn't an RPG, there are no rpg elements to it. So I don't see why it would be on this list. Do I enjoy it as a game more than other games? Yes, it will go down as one of my favorite games of all time.

Morrowind is at 32 and oblivion at 22... [censored] IGN. Whoever said you cant spell ignorance without IGN hit the nail right on the head on that one... Now to see what number 1 is. My predictions of Final Fantasy 7 or Ocarina of Time still stand. (and i still think thats ridiculous)

And super mario RPG is above oblivion and morrowind?! are you serious? I loved super mario RPG but it was definitely not a better game then morrowind, or even oblivion for that matter.
