If you play a game you set to "disable updates" while in Online mode, Steam re-enables it. Annoying...

....well that's stupid. What's the point of having the option, then? :shakehead:

deleted the .ini file and the prefs, still hit and miss and it caused 5 process of Elder scrolls to run simultaneously in my task manager O.o not sure why. so i uninstalled the game, and i am now reinstalling it. i will keep you posted if it works.

Why did the patch screw this up?

I had not changed any ini files at all and after patching then checking my mouse movement it all seems to be fine.

Previously the mouse movement whilst in cities, on the y axis, was terrible. After the patch, all seems fine now and i'm not having to run my mouse off the mat in order to look up.

Anyone else seen this "fix"?

Seems good to me.

Game CTDs every 3 minutes again, and I can't patch the exe for LAA anymore, which is the ONLY FRIGGING THING THAT FIXES IT.

Try http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013.

best solution for this asinine forced steam bs you have no control over. start in offline mode always leave it like that. find a way to copy shortcut to steam so you can play it out of steam folder. do not download patches wait for them to be manual or even better yet community patches that have full details of changes and can be manually installed.
all they need to do is release the damn CK and we will fix all their problems and make the game better.
this steam crap is wow. I bought the game full out and bought every single beth title because I do love their games but the noose around my neck from steam and the inability to update manually or control steam the way i want to... meh
I realize steam gets publicity and we get to see ads and oh we get some achievements which I dont quite understand but really the need for a application to act as a wrapper around another application is just 2x the bugs and is illogical
Hacks and cracks will be out regardless what system of drm is used and tbh they will be needed for MODs to play properly into the future on the PC.
I do not understand the goal of this collaboration between steam and bethesda

Anyway I could post the original skyrim exe on skyrim nexus for those who already downloaded the patch

That's what UESP says.

Steam decided despite pausing and turning off auto update that it should continue downloading so I just threw in the towel.
The only weird thing until now is that it changed my video settings.

Oh boy, what a bloody mess. I thank the nine that I have managed to avoid being patched. This is going to cause so much confusion and misinformation. I hope this is getting an appropriate response down at Bethesda :swear:

That didn't work with the last patch, but I guess I can try it again.

PC "patch"? You mean... PC "here comes more bugs"?

I know...
It just deleted two or three of my most recent saves.
Heaven knows what other misdoings come in the package.

Ahhhhhhh...
I think they need to review the entire process. Or fire some people. Or hire some more. Or quit the PC niche.

Confirmed - Being in Steam's Offline Mode and then returning to Online Mode, changes your user preferences for Skyrim and re-enables automatic downloads of patches.

The UESP post about them taking it off the server where have they got that info from? Have Bethesda made a statement somewhere? Verifying the cache doesn't roll the game back, do we have to uninstall and then re-download to go back to 1.1. You can't usually roll back versions with Steam

Good grief who was the bonehead over at Bethesda who put that that terrible mouse smoothing or whatever it's called in? The sensititivy is pretty much broken for me.

That too can be disabled from the .ini files...

In SkyrimPrefs.ini
bMouseAcceleration=0

how incompetent and careless do you need to be to put out a patch the creates more problems than it solves - do they test that crapp? now im pissed - the game is not playable any more - had about 10 crashes in a row and now i cant start it anymore - before it worked wonderfully....bloody noobs

That thing is turned off, my mouse is still jittery and jerky all the time. :(

So perhaps it was not the smoothing?

It's a wiki. Anybody at all could have clicked "edit" to add/change that information.
