PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #8

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 7:23 pm

Ahh.. Beth, Beth, Beth.. Where do I begin?

It started on a winter night long ago. I met her, Morrowind, at a friend's house and had never seen your face before. Instantly captivated I asked you out. We had so many great times together until I met Oblivion. She continued to enthrall me with her improved looks. I sadly waved goodbye to Morrowind as I dearly loved her charm and wit (but also secretly stole into her room from time to time in nostalgic delight). I discovered other women too.. an older lass named Daggerfall. I dated her for a spell and admired her...girth.. but, I digress..

Then came Skyrim. She was refined. She played with me night after night (on my PS3.. nearly bug-free since launch!!!!) and whispered of a secret meeting with Xbox.

I shrugged. "She'll return and be appreciative of my warmth". Months went by. No calls. No love. I've been patient, hoping she'll return to me with our child that was born (told to me online, I might add!). She refuses to let me see our child, Dawnguard. I offer child support, but still she is resistant. She keeps telling me he's deformed and hideous..

I told her I can be patient until she comes to terms with her emotions about our son. But damn, Beth... let me see our son!!!!!!!

That is brilliant

@Baasje92 well, as they said they sent the patch to Sony already, that would be Sony's fault that Europe doesn't have the patch. Bethesda has no control over when Sony will release it, and some people say they don't think it was even sent. I believe that they wouldn't have sent it out for North America and wherever else and exclude Europe and Australia, etc.

The update made some people's gaming experience worse, which is probably the reason why Europe has delayed the release of the patch

Is it possible that there waiting for 1.7 to be worldwide before they say anything about Dawnguard PS3? it would be terrible if that's what there doing. It would be even worse if the next DLC is announced before Dawnguard is out on PS3 :P

Hmmm I have to say I am ashamed to have to make an account solely for the purpose of bad mouthing Bethesda's work. I'm not saying I will be ranting and raving and cursing up a storm but I will put forth my very disappointed feelings for Bethesda's work so far.

I honestly don't care that they have taken longer to release Dawnguard but I do care about the amount of information being given to fans who are deeply concerned about one of their perhaps formerly most cherished game titles. If I read the work soon in a post I would not give a damn when they came out with the PS3 version. To keep reading the same slogans and phrases which are obvious attempts to calm fans yet revealing the least amount of information possible. It hurts it, really does. Tell me and everyone else that it will be a long time or tell me that is going to be soon-ish it really doesn't matter.

I think the constant dance around the subject of when the actual release date will be is underhanded. Treating us like we are toddlers who aught to be kept in the dark because the truth is too hard to handle is the one thing that has put me the most on edge. I find it aggravating; I know it is only a game but when I want something ... well I want it and I will take action to get what I want. In this case however I and everyone else is at your mercy Bethesda. You are the ones who have to tell us what is going to happen and when. I think anyone who says we as consumers are at the mercy of the corporations feeding us products are entirely wrong and any one who knows economics will tell you the same. If fans and consumers in general are unhappy with the corporation they stop buying from it. Consumers go elsewhere to more honest producers of better products. No doubt will Bethesda be taking a hit when they launch Dawnguard for the PS3. The first day after the exclusive month was up for xbox and there was no Dawnguard fans were angry. When they asked where is Dawnguard there was no answer. Your sales have already dropped and the product has not even been released.

I would like to propose reparations to the fans who have been neglected and quite frankly s*** on (please do not ban me for this I am simply expressing myself using words that best represent the gravity of the message I wish to convey). I propose that the next DLC be put out immediately proceeding the end of the exclusive period for all platforms no region excluded. If Bethesda is feeling generous maybe you might agree to throw out the contract for the exclusive period and take a monetary loss to show how sincere your apology is.

I do realize this is only a game and there may be a lot of money on the line but the fact of the matter is you are making money by selling an ethereal product. From a philosophical/logical standpoint we are paying money for nothing. The only reason you receive money for this product is for its entertainment value and it is payed to you because we like what you produce. Please do not leave us with nothing. There would be no greater disappointment and or incredibly aggravating notion than to simply release Dawnguard and the next DLC for PS3 or PC and do nothing to to show your sincerity.

Its been proven people [censored] if Bethesda remains silent on release dates., these same people continue to [censored] should Bethesda give out details on the release date. If Bethesda misses that date which they are prone to do anyone who was around when fallout DLC was coming knows this. Even more people [censored].

If they knew how long it take to fix up dawnguard for the ps3 it mean they were already finished and it was on its way to be submitted.

Doubt it. I doubt we will have dawnguard till next month at best.

Btw.. I stole your picture.. KAIN IS ME!

My Dawnguard prediction for PS3: Released State-side, three weeks later Europe's still waiting for a date
That's if it doesn't get canned on PS3.

The severe lack of communication from this company is downright absurd. It's insulting the way that they treat their PS3 customers.

Sorry, i missed your point too.

Unless its to willfully ignore people's legitimate anger over being strung along by Bethesda and wrongly tell folks that the responses they have received(IE-Hines' put upon tweets. I mean seriously, he is the VP of PR and Marketing, a position in a company that USUALLY means the owner of said title is in the know...) are in any way good enough? If so, sorry guy, not buying what you are peddling.

At any given time over the last few months when Dawnguard dlc was announced, made available, w/e; Beth. could easily have kept this current situation from coming to this pitch if they had just shown even a tiny bit of consideration for how the PS3 segment of their playerbase would react to this kind of treatment. I've been following Hines' twiiter feed, since that is the closest thing to an official channel and that guy is being rightfully eaten alive by some PS3 players. I don't agree with the WAY they are laying into him, but i can appreciate why they are.

Bethesda does NOT need or deserve white-knights swooping in to their defense. What they need is to wake up and seriously reassess their business model in regards to the PS3. And they need to do it post haste, because as bad as the pr for this current fiasco is, it will get so much worse if/when any other DLC is released before PS3 gets the initial Dawnguard dlc.
yeah, you' missed completely my point unfortunately........and you know why ?
because your only interest is to have dawnguard for ps3 as soon as possible - and even if hines were the best pr in the world on this forum the situation would have been the same with the same people complaining about something

i'm not a bethesda defender,i try only to be objective and i'm still sure that the lack of communication for someone its only an excuse to release their anger and frustation against bethesda, hines or whatever don't give them the answers that they want

life isn't so simple unfortunately, you've to gain your desires - or adequate yourself to the offer as a consumer

i want to add only a last thing to my previous considerations:
when i've heard of the two exclusives for ms i've decided immediately to buy (for the first time) a tes game even for console - and as a pc player isn't too easy to accept,i can assure you, i own ps3 and xbox 360 only for their exclusives and never i would have imagined to play a tes on them - i've simply adequated myself to the offer, plain and simple

i want to play even with mods ? i have no alternatives,i've to buy skyrim and dawnguard -again -even for pc - is that beth fault or we have only to blame the stupid console war based on machines working on a six-seven years old hardware ?

i agree with you to a point. console war, yes but it doesn't change the fact that Bethesda should of had all verison ready for release to send the both the pc & ps3 out faster. because then they'd get more money & we would be happy ( well i would be ) plain & simple its business 101. but all verison weren't ready & you see what happens, pc & ps3 fans angry. pc gets dawnguard out of nowhere & us ps3 fans are still waiting with no change in insight. so you can blame a console war, but most of the blame goes to Bethesda for not having all verison ready before Dawnguards release on xbox 360.

we all know from the past that beth isn't so able to develop/convert games for ps3 unfortunately - except oblivion perhaps -correct me if i'm wrong

we all have freedom of choice and to play games where we choose to
i can understand complaints in that regard eventually only from those owning ps3 and without the possibility to buy/play the game for/on other platforms - and the frustration its plausible at least in this case

lets be honests, nothing new at the end apart for the "lack of communication" already reported

In waiting for DG for PS3 I've (very) briefly considered acquiring Skyrim for my PC. As I've noted before it is simply more comfortable playing on my PS3 because of my configuration with my PC/HDTV. Besides, I cannot think of many reasons to purchase the game again just to play DG. Although I would have access to mods and such, so this would be a major plus. Then again I've moved away from computer gaming in general. In a sense I've given up and gotten over the whole DG fiasco. I still like to observe the forums and see what people are discussing, however.

I would like to see DG before Xbox gets the next DLC. If you look around the web there is already discussion about the next DLC being based on zombies and/or necromancy. Interesting how there's (unofficial) news about the next DLC, while there is naught a peep about the current one for PS3. 'Tis alright though. Back to playing other games and still having fun with vanilla Skyrim

Yeah true i've played vanilla Skyrim so much over these 2 months of waiting i can complete all the gulids quest 1oo% with no problems, expacted for a bug at the end of the brotherhood quest that makes me wanted once i fast travel to the eastern company, but anyway. but next week i finally have something new to do. the Mass effect 3 single player dlc comes out, i hope its not to much because if dawnguard is released in september, i want to have enough to get it, if not oh well, i'll have to wait until i get more.

Simply because you've don't liked dawnguard at all or partially and you like to complain about that on a forum
However, that post wasn't referred to you, even if the other guy feels morally supported by your assertion

Point taken, people will moan regardless. I can agree with that.

However, Bethesda should not use that as an excuse to give virtually no info on what's going on. And its been repeatedly said, ppl are not even asking for detailed, point-by-point info here; they'd be content with a weekly, "Hey guys, thanks for bearing with us. Going slow but making some progress." kinda deal.
I wouldn't be happy with perodic messages of still working on it bear with us. Its like being on hold and the music in interrupted with an automated message to please stay on the line someone will be with you shortly. I'm certain they wouldn't be happy either. They'd just [censored] about not giving details.
The severe lack of communication from this company is
In no way unusual. In fact Bethesda shares more details then most.

There is being objective and then there is 'white-knight'ing. And you sir demonstrating the hell out of doing the later. I mean its almost masterful how you have somehow turned Bethesda's continued silence into a positive thing that angry customers are perverting in order to have something to complain about. My bad, not 'almost', it is indeed a masterful stroke of white-knighting.

And a big negatory to having to buy a whole other platform's version of Skyrim just to play add-on content. That is past white-knighting and has gone full on into 'Stockholm syndrome'-land. Can you step back a sec and see just how insane and inadequate that suggested solution to this mess is?

If Bethesda can't properly get a product on PS3, they should either sub-contract to ppl that can or not try and publish product on the platform, since it is beyond their ability to code for it.

I wrote that big so you could maybe get it this time. That is the root issue as i see it. Not that if given equal choices of A, B, and C; people that pick say 'B' deserve what they get when the maker of A,B, and C decides to treat choosers of 'B' like offal.

i know for a fact that even if Bethesda had gone the proper way with total transparency on this issue, there would have still been angry ppl. There will always be ppl mad about something. we both agree on that fact. I maintain however, that it would never have reached the proportions the current issue has. There would have been a spike that quickly died down as ppl chalked the whole issue up to 'normal industry delays'.

In fact, with it looking more and more everyday that more has been going on at Camp Beth. than they have been saying(READ-We've all been thinking they have been trying to soley get Dawnguard ready, while they have been working on other stuff entirely...); what will YOU say Cicero, if Beth. turns about and drops the next dlc on 360 before the PS3 even gets the initial one? And in all seriousness, i think that's where all this is headed. Do you think ppl's anger over the lack of information will have been justified then?

Damn, saw the DLC on steam, so I carelessly rushed off to Best Buy, bought a $50 PSN card, to now only find, the DLC still isn't here after nearly 2 months of Xbox's release! >:(

'Twas one late hour in July,
was waiting for DLC to arrive.
Dawnguard the name,
wanted it all the same.
And we were told to "stand by".

So we waited for news to come in.
Things were certainly looking grim.
Behold the PC
received the beloved DLC
and the PS3 users got a tweet.

So now there is much debate and such.
Although now some folks don't care much.
With school to begin
and new titles coming in
there seems to be no sight in end.

With a love for the lore and play,
this content is untimely delayed.
So I sit and I hope
and I watch others mope
and we all simply dangle on a rope.

Cheers community
