PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #11

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:00 am

I could see a few sony engineers walk into Bethesda and look at the code and stuff and just say "what the f%$K guys?". Then a huge patch comes out that fix's the game and makes the dlc's work. But for some reason Dawnguard and all the other DLC's still have a huge amount of bugs that make them unplayable :P But all joking aside this is unforgivable of Bethesda. Skyrim did not deserve game of the year last year at all because of the PS3 version. I bet there not even working with Sony, they probably just called them once and asked a few question and complained that the PS3 is to hard to work on. Bethesda are a bunch of crooks.

this is just pathetic, i bet they solve this problem real quick when they are ready to put out a GOTY edition for another 60 bucks.

My understanding is the DLC works in RAM which is what causes the majority of problems. I am sure even if the DLC is skipped you will still get a GOTY edition with everything in it.

Well true to my word, i'm glad Bethesda finally sacked-up and admitted they can't code for the PS3. I'll keep checking back, but prolly won't hear peep one out of me unless someone is just being a jerk and is asking for it.

Good travels guys.

"This is not a problem we're positive we can solve." Hate to tell you but this line means it probably won't be on PS3, I will never buy Bethesda again, they just are too stupid to code on a PS3. Don't get your hopes up for Hearthfire either, if it comes out it'll probably be another 9 months for PS3 at least.

My Skyrim roots are PS3 from day one until I switched to the PC

And I feel for you guys. This has gone on long enough. You need some good answers. Something at least. I waited for several hours in the cold outside Gamestop for my Collector edition Skyrim for the PS3 I'd ordered a year before that. I waited in line along with PC and 360 players. And you may not realize how cold it is in Alaska in winter. Trust me, its cold. And we stood outside in that cold for many hours. There was an easy 100 people ahead of me when I got there.

This is how I see it now... (fictional reference from here)

Gamestop opens at midnight and lets in ALL the 360 owners in. They get their game and head home and start playing it. We hear them all talking about it. 3 hours later Gamestop lets in all the PC buyers and same thing... they all go home and play.

Who's left standing in the cold? the PS3 owners. Whats Gamestop tell them? "Uh... you'll get in soon don't worry?" well how soon? We're cold and EVERYONE ELSE got their copy?! "yeah. yeah we know... we'll let you in soon... be patient."

And hours go by... Its still cold outside. we're still waiting. And the guy inside Gamestop just smiles and nods when we tap on the glass.

Now you tell me would that be acceptable? NO it would not.

I understand the PS3 seems to have its issues playing Skyrim. I experienced all of them before switching to the PC. I would hope that the PS3 guys get something for all this waiting. Its not fair. They are standing outside in the cold without so much as a why.

here are, are chances right now. in my opinion.
60% chance we will never get it ever or until the game of the year verison is released.
30% chance we get dawnguard & heartfire at the same time.
10% chance we see it in september ( i would of made it 5% chance but sony is trying to come to are resuce so i added another 5% more. )

So in other words, they're guilty of false advertising. It says "Add-On Content" on the back of the case so at this point what they're doing is illegal if they don't resolve it. Not looking too good for Bethesda.

Ok so they are having problems with it, but this is getting ridiculous, i really wanted to play this :( I'm not happy with the lack of
communication and the info we do get doesn't tell us much.

Love it when its all "bethesda's fault" made by legions of sony [censored].How about try to make a system more accessible instead of making a garbage puzzle?

Every single third party developer has atleast made a comment about the PS3's hardware..and all were "it's a piece of [censored]".Doesn't matter if they brought the game later, but no one should be forced to work with such a stupid console.

Maybe next time Sony woulld be more willing to help instead of just standing there like an idiot..Microsoft helped almost everyone when they started while Sony expected everyone will crawl towards them.

Beth won't really miss since Xbox and PC has covered their costs already.PS3 is a just bonus now.Sad but true.

Naughty Dog, masters of PS3 coding, eat it, most other multiplatform games turn out well on all platforms, it is Bethesdas fault.

Fool me once (Fall Out 3) shame on you, Fool me twice (Fall Out New Vegas) shame on you again, Fool me trice (Skyrim) shame on me .... for believing in a company that seems not to understand 1/3 of it's consumers. Goodbye Bethesda, it's been a very bumpy ride.

I like to see that they are working with Sony on the DLC. Does that mean Sony is gonna help code? Is it possible that sony could fix the problems?

Naughty Dog is a first party developer...I said "third party".Doesn't matter if they ate it twenty times, third party is where its at.

"Those same developers came back"...Ofcourse they would say it because they have no intention of telling people the PS3 version is [censored]...why would they want sales to go down there? People hate inferior crap, and the developers try hard to put them down(even though the truth is it's still [censored] and runs worse than the others).

To add something: there are "some" people here who were dissing dawnguard on how the reviews were poor and it's not worth it(all when xbox got it first)...LOL now they are practically begging for it.

Bethesda always struck me as being suddenly thrown into this whole AAA business with Oblivion, without really having what it takes to live up to those expectations. Clearly they don't possess the proper skill or manpower to properly develop for the PS3. It is a notoriously difficult machine to get along with, but while other devs have had significant obstacles it has been nowhere near as bad as it is for Bethesda.

That isn't really true... a vast majority of the PS3 3rd party games are noticeably worse than there 360 counterpart... this has been proven multiple times. It is why it's better to have a 360 for third party games, especially if you want to play anything released more than a few years ago.

Naughty Dog on the other hand, may be awesome PS3 coders, but they make linear type games not open word RPG's were memory is more important.

Hey, everyone, get this. I was reading Pete Hines' twitter and someone asked him if Dawnguard, in its current state, was playable on the PS3. This is, word for word, what Hines' response was:

"Yes, it just doesn't perform well in all scenarios. Some folks would be fine, some would not. Every save game is different." (You can confirm this data for yourselves by going to https://twitter.com/DCDeacon)

I bet Sony's people can fix this problem easily. So don't give up hope!

What the hell are they releasing ANOTHER DLC for when we havent even got the first anyway? LOOK AT THE FACTS.

1. The reviewers only got tge xbox copy. The reason is pretty cut and dry: Bethesda knew the ps3 version was busted and literally unplayable at launch. If reviewers witnessed this during the course of play on the ps3 version, they knew none of us sony fans would purchase the game until it was fixed. What it translates to is a quick money grab, "we'll fix it down the road who cares" mentality. We got tricked into buying an unplayable game.

2. They lied about how it was "fixed" in 1.2 or 1.3 I believe, but it wasnt. In fact it was actually making it worse. Anothet ploy for people to buy their broken game by lying on it being fixed.

3. While we waited, they said NOTHING about the status of a fix afterwards. We could not play our game for MONTHS while the xbox and pc version thrived. Weird how soon dawnguard was announced for release after they finally fixed our problem. Was beth putting us on the back burner while they coded dawnguard for xbox?

4. And now we STILL havent gotten dawnguard, and they announce hearthfire. Is history repeating itself? Do you honestly expect us to buy your quality issues with dawnguard and take it seriously when you STILL havent fixed the quality of fallout 3 goty after all this time? You magically give a damn all of a sudden?

absolutely disgusting they can not get this to work for PS3. If you a 360/PC owner of skyrim, show us support, let the voice of the gamers be heard, do not buy heathfire, let bethesda know they can no longer treat one third of thier fanbase like a red headed step child. Share this with your friends, it time bethesda got thier act together!!

i have been :) i will not buy another DLC until ps3 owners get theirs

I'm upset, angry, and disappointed. This is hardly the first time Bethesda has clearly not given much of a crap about PS3 users, but I never thought this would happen with such a huge industry changing title like Skyrim. This game was important to a lot of people and it brought so many new fans to the series and the company. Kiss all of that goodbye. I am seeing so many people online saying they are never going to buy a Bethesda game again. If only half of them stay true to that claim, then it should be noticable. Yeah, you guys can say that the majority of Bethesda's fans are on PC or Xbox, and of course that's true, but some people have standards. It's not just PS3 users upset over this, it's people in general. Because in this day and age you can't just do something like this. You can't go two months without saying anything but "it's not ready", and then throw "we might not be able to do it" at us, and then try to blame Sony. And stop saying "well we are working on other DLC too" like it excuses it. That makes it WORSE. Stop working on other DLC and get your act together. You can't give your fans the middle finger like this.

I've gone on such an adventure with my character, my Dragonborn. I've spent 230 hours in Skyrim. 230 hours of my life. I was promised DLC on the back of the box, I paid for this game full price and I deserve to be treated like a customer. The 30 Day Xbox Exclusive deal was a slap in the face already, as if we're not worth it to you, as if you'd rather have the Microsoft money than your artistic integrity as a business and your fans' respect. But then you tell us we won't get DLC at all? You tell us that PS3 users just have to live with it? After making us wait how long for Update 1.6? It hurts me to say this, but I can no longer enjoy playing Skyrim. Everytime I do it leaves a bad taste in my mouth now. 230 hours of my life wasted. I hope you enjoy the fans you have left, I'm never buying another Bethesda product again. I'm going to go sell Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim tomorrow. I'll sell Morrowind on the internet, since Gamestop won't accept games that old.

Goodbye, Bethesda. Hopefully you realize that spitting in the face of your fans is a bad idea in the future.

Also, fire Pete Hines. Terrible PR. His response to us complaining is "well the Xbox was out for a year before the PS3 so what's the problem?". Absolutely unacceptable.

Actually....i think that is excellent news. Think about it guys....they are not going to waste all that time and money getting this far, and just give up. They are so close...they wouldnt just give up. They will make money when it releases. They want to do everything they can.

You know I feel for you PS3 gamers, I really do... but why does everyone think there entitled to DLC for there platform of choice? Beth doesn't have to release DLC for PS3 or any platform really. You paid for Skyrim which you got, not DLC... if you had paid for DLC then you would be entitled to it.

I understand your frustrated, but this demanding for DLC is kind of ridiculous.

What the hell are they releasing ANOTHER DLC for when we havent even got the first anyway? LOOK AT THE FACTS.

Why would they stop making DLC for other platforms that they are currently having no issue with? The world doesn't stop turning because they ran into issues with the PS3... They have different teams, doing different projects.
