Werebears and Spears... maybe next DLC? #2

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 12:23 am

well I'm talikg about asking for "guns" and stupid stuff like that.

why do people even ask for guns in TES? IIRC the people of tamriel are not too keen on technology.

Anyway, i would like to see the spears make a return, i would like to see the flail from daggerfall too, but that will never happen :(

I rather have a DLC just about them than any of the other crap in ES. Just my opinion, though.
This. but we all know Bethesda will decide to do something stupid like Thalmor related, or more dragon nonsense.

Sadly you may be right. It seems like are best hope for bethesda to include something Hircine related will be in a minor quest in the main storyline(like Soul Cairn) or in a sidequest not related to the main theme of the DLC(like how "Lost to the Ages" was in Dawnguard).

Exactly, it is good to see I am not the only person who does not like dragon stuff, and thinks that Thalmor DLC would be a waste when it could be the main focus for a future game.

Yeah we have enough Dragons in Skyrim. Idk how they would add anymore but I'm sure they will find a way to.

They will probably go into detail about the dragon priests or something asinine like that. I actually shouldn't say that because if they see my post that might give them ideas .

The only Dragon thing I would want is a patch for Durnehviir. I kinda like ol Durnehviir and it is kinda annoying when I can't call him to battle

The Dragon cult actually is semi-interesting. But like I said I want some DLC unrelated to the main quest.

I don't want more dragons, but I definitely want them updated/overhauled. Armor ratings, increased number of shouts they can use, and giving them new attacks (swinging their tails for example) would make me very happy indeed.

Actually there is one more dragon I want. It would have a spiked tail and plates going up its back. Pretty much a stegosaurus crossed with a dragon.

For all that care, here are my thoughts:

Spears - I would love to have them as weapon choice, and I think there is a small possibility of it happening, I really don't see them actually doing it. Spears are weapons like no other in Skyrim, and just like Morrowind, they would need their own Skill tree, which I don't see Bethesda adding. I just don't think they would add another Skill tree, for some reason. I know they did it in Dawnguard - two in fact - but I really cannot see them adding a completely new one in the base skills - they have never done it before.

On Werebears - I don't care too awful much for them, but I am always up for a new playstyle.

Now, after reading some previous posts, I have a few other things to say - I would love the next Elder Scrolls gave to be about 50 years in the future with the Thalmor trying to conquer Tamriel (still), and fail miserably when I (we) destroy the new threat to life as we know it and destroy the Thalmor entirely. Then I could take a cart full of Thalmor heads (as opposed to the Blade heads in the mid Fourth Era) to Alinor and see what they have to say about THAT.

Anyway, on the Dwemer - I agree (a lot) with the fact that the whole story should not be based on them (they did shine in Morrowind), but please do still include a bit more lore (not much, but a tiny bit of something new), and I really do want something very small to do with them in the main quest (as in Skyrim when we had to delve deep into Blackreach to claim an Elder Scroll). That I would love, as long as they don't over-do it. The Dwemer are cool, as are their ruins (Please include ruins! At least one!), but they are just that - a LOST race, and a secretive one as well. As long as those aspects are understood, yet they are slightly included in some way, I am good.

DLC, for the most part would have to have some connection to the main quest, because the main quest is what defines the game. But yes, I do want it to be a new questline that is kinda unrelated. just as Dawnguard was unrelated, it also has some ties, as with the elder scrolls, and even the same elder scroll as the main quest - it even had dragons. They did GREAT with The Shivering Isles, because it was almost completely unrelated, but after entering the gate, remembering what you see the first time you entered one in Kvatch, you see a dark room - and an odd man. Then you see the room turn into butterflies, and you see an wonderful, beautiful world, yet it is still slightly connected with the main quest Oblivion Gates. I want something like that.

As far as perks go, damage increases, stamina/health increases, and probably a few things similar to Savage Feeding and Gorging. I'd like to see one that allows them, when sprinting, to knock over enemies like Shield Charge does/did.

I'd say for roars or whatever their powers may be called, it'd be along the lines of direct combat influence. A berserk one, increase armor rating, health, and damage for a short period. Maybe one to paralyze enemies for a brief moment, stun them more or less. I think an ally calling one would be a little pointless, if not overpowered. Bears are typically solitary animals, the bigger ones anyways.
All of these sound like pretty good ideas to make werebears more different than werewolves.

Edit: Also if Bethesda adds a sneak toggle to werewolves maybe they should add a "block" toggle for werebears(Since they're most likely going to like werewolves were the right trigger attacks with your right and the left trigger for your left hand). Which allow you to raise your are arms and reduce damage from frontal attacks, but the downside is you can't attack in this mode. I imagine this would be very useful against archers.

It would also balance them out with vampire lords since they can toggle between magic and melee.

I believe vampires are sneaky and werewolves are warriors.

Yeah that would be cool. We would have 3 main types Werewolf (sneaky), Vampire Lord (magic), Werebear (Warrior)

werewolves=warrior vampires=magic/sneaky werebear=warrior

Werewolves are the only ones fit to be sneaky. Werebears would be warriors. I would agree that the vampire lords would be sneaky, instead, but vampires are sneaky while in human form, so they can't be identified. Vampire Lords are just outright aggressive, because they cannot be identified as anyone in common society. When I am a vampire lord, and I kill Nazim, am I criticized when I am in human form again? Nope. On the other hand, if I kill him in human form, am I criticized? YES!

If...
...werewolves were sneaky...
...vampire lords were magic...
...and werebears were warriors...

...Then there would a transformation for every different playstyle - Combat, Magic, and Stealth, just like the skills were meant to be, then each transformation could have a new skill tree for each category. Hmmm??

Spears could be fit into two-handed weapons tree easily.

And I heavily support the concept of a transformation type for each playstyle.

It honestly makes a massive amount of sense.
