To all you who think stormcloaks are racist

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:46 am

The dunmer refuse to contribute to the cause. Until I did quests to help out I couldnt even buy a house, much less a house in the nicer districts. So they want something for nothing? If they dont want to help in the war they can live in some other cities besides windhelm. But if you want a nice house in Windhelm you have to help the cause.

That's because it's not their fight. Whatever happens between the Stormcloaks and the Legion currently doesn't affect them, for now at least. They're a refugee population that had their homeland decimated by war and natural disaster, with their entire religion turned on its head. You can't exactly blame them for being stubborn or apathetic.

You cant blame the Nords for not rewarding them for it either.

Except no one's looking for a reward, just a place to live without being bothered or harassed. It's no secret that the Grey Quater isn't the most safest or cleanest place in WIndhelm, even for its own residents.

There is no Nord rule about not using all tools available to you.

And how many people aside from greybeards and draugr used shouts? Could the opponent somehow expected such a thing and had a chance to not be slayed immediatly /avoid it? Its one thing to suprise an enemy with an weapon attack/move he didnt expect. This shout didnt left any chance for the high king to win this duell and it was unfair to use it.

Like I said - buying a house is a reward. Even dragonborn couldnt buy a house until he contributed.

Its equally unfair for you to use your moral code against Ulfric when he had no exposure to it. At least the king knew shouts existed (he should have - the other Jarls did).

I always side with the Stormcloaks, I actually think the racism and a strong racial identity can be a good thing in an RPG. Just look at Morrowind, the dunmer are complete racists and bastards and thats what makes them so awesome. Stormcloaks are nowhere near as bad, yet they seem to branded as bad guys by many.

I'd rather have diversity instead of one big landmass under the same Imperial ruleset.

For a thane yes, but they aren't looking to be thanes. They're looking for someplace to live, not a reward. To not have people come into your neighborhood to threaten you, or have guards turn a blind eye when you're mugged or attacked, isn't asking too much.

Again, the Dunmer aren't trying to make friends, they're trying to make a life for themselves.

The Empire is now basically a vassal state of the Aldmeri Dominion, who take racism to the highest extreme they possibly can. They want to erase men from existence entirely, such that they don't exist nor ever have existed. Hell, they even practice eugenics on other Altmer. So, you get your choice of either racist Nords or the Third Reich.

That makes no sense. No one can buy a house without contributing. Thats the rule. Its a feudal thing, not a stormcloak thing. Could you buy a house in the imperial city in Oblivion? I dont remember if it was even possible but Im sure it wasnt until after you contributed.

Argonians

Have kicked the Thalmoor out of Black Marsh, curb stomped their former oppressors and taken a fair chunk oh the Dumner province.Until the Nords know how expansionist the suddenly badass lizards are it would be prudent to limit their access.

Khajit

Are quite enamored of the Thalmoor (the Thalmoor took credit for bringing back some moons or bought them a big ball of string not sure which one). The caravans can reasonably be assumed to be working as the eyes of the Thalmoor in Skyrim.

Redguard

The only instance where I have seen Redguards not allowed in was Whiterun. That was due to an incedent specific to those individuals.

Orcs

Havent been to any strongholds yet so dunno.(I hope the Nords ,Redguard ,and Orcs team up tho.Lets see how well all these milk drinking mages do without their meatshields)

All mer

The Nords ond Mer have never been best buds.Just the way things are.

Ulfric may very well be the Grand Wizard of the Skyrim clan.To paint all Stormcloaks as such is well.... racist

Actually it does because you can only buy one when you have the money; which the Dunmer certainly did because of all the businesses in the Grey Quarter. In case you hadn't noticed, they're not looking to expand or move. They're fine living in their own corner of Skyrim so long as their not bothered. That's the key.

Honestly if we lived in a world where there were orcs and cat people Im pretty sure we'd all be pretty racist towards them and they would be racist right back. In skyrim ive seen plenty of racist condescending attitudes from the elves and one dark elf journal talking about how they are trying to quietly take over windhelm with a peaceful occupation. Racism in real life is dumb cuz were all genetically the same. Races in skyrim ARE different, in fact they are not really different races, they are different species.

Seriously? They don't want to be apart of it because its not their war to be fought.
They have lost their whole province, yet the Stormcloaks let them live in the slums even if they did fight in the war they would still be living in the slums.
Just accept that they are racist.

This. Except maybe the player's character there is no other races than nords in Ulfric's army. Instead the Legion accepts nords, orcs, redguards, etc.

Exactly, they LET them live in the slums rather than keeping their gates closed and telling them to move on. Better treatment than the Nords would have gotten in Morrowind or Summerset Isle.

Sigh. The dunmer clearly dont want to help. So how is that evidence that they are being excluded? Is there any race complaining that the stormcloaks arent letting them help fight the imperials?

edit: Also, I think the fact that Nords complain that dunmer refused to help implies that they were invited and did not join.

If you talk to the King in Rags you will find out that the Nords are also hypocrites.
Spoiler
THey [censored] and moan about not being able to worship their god when they are doing the same thing to the Forsworn.
Now, I hope that the Empire does in fact get disbanded, but it is hard for me to support such a group as the Stormcloaks. It will be very interesting to see how Beth handles things lore-wise.
