Well, if it's a decent beta test, they'd be looking for a wide range of people. Some playstyles might catch things others wouldn't.

Definitely. I'm wondering if being a woman gamer will make me more desirable. I certainly hope so!

I'm not sure if anyone has taken gender into account before... it'll be interesting to find out.

I don't think gender will be a factor so much as playstyle. That's why the form asked so many questions about characters and such.

I wonder how many people will get the beta? Too many and they begin to lose money, too little and the DLC could be postponed due to glitches.

True, however I think free Dawnguards would be cheaper than hiring QA people anyways so I think a couple hundred, maybe? A 1000 tops perhaps...

It wouldn't matter if they gave away 5000 DG's. Bethesda isn't losing any money over this Beta.

The amount of anticipated DL's for this DLC is astronomical, and @ $20 USD apiece, there's much profit to be made.

So don't you worry your little head over Bethesda's checkbook balance.

well aprox 15 million people have played skyrim (probobly more i have not checked in a while) well say some left to play other games but come back when they here about DLC. when everything is said and done about half of the original 15 million purchase the DLC. 7.5 million at $20 a download is $150,000,000 that is to say:

150 million dollars

if the gave the DLC free to say 2,000 people at a loss of $20 a download is $40,000

150,000,000 - 40,000 = $149,960,000

so barely a scratch in there overall gain, and with the plublicity of a free beta and more DLC on the way i think Skyrim and Dawnguard are going to do perfectly fine. Skyrim is the biggest selling TES game to date, i think Dawnguard is going to be the biggest selling DLC to date, and Bethesda is going to make alot more money. . .to date

EDIT: I myself applied for the beta, and i expect all those that did to do thier job if selected, there will most likely be NDA beta forums were you will be posting and confirming various bugs and glitches if and were the occur. its great to get stuff free and early, but i expect you all to do what your suposed too. :)

I understand why they asked for hours played and level of character, but since filling out the beta form, both my characters have gained quite a few hours and levels.

I wonder at what time they will start with the beta invites? morning, evening or noonish... but it will be interesting on how many people acually get picked. also, if they are just going to play the DLC and report any bugs or if they will just ignore it.

I doubt Bethesda is even hand picking people. It is most likely based on the preset stats you chose for your two characters, hence the "Do you play as a Werewolf?" Or "Do you play as a Vampire?" They are looking for people with playing hours, and experience in different areas of the game. It would take them far to long to hand pick people.

Of course they aren't handpicking people. They're going to have thousands of applications.

I don't think the selected members will be chosen, today. I'm guessing around this weekend or Monday - Tuesday.

  • Signed up for the beta two days ago so we'll see. Would be pretty cool to get the beta though, I mean who wouldn't go nuts?

Just had to be fair and put down my two low level(highest is 36 now) characters as I had to repair my xbox some time ago and decided to just start over again. Deleted all saves, reinstalled and went for it. I've already done all the quests so now I'm just exploring really and not so much concerned with doing all the quests again. I might even start a new character for Dawnguard.

  • I hear your brother except it only takes me 20 hours to get to level 50
