Heavy vs Medium vs Light

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:11 pm

good luck, not only will i be disguised as a light on your team but you wont see me till i kill you, im just saying that heavies are effective till you get to pro status, a perfect light will outclass you every time, Matching the body types up with their preferred class shows what I mean.

Heavy Solider, Slow but effective in dealing damage and could easily kill groups of similarly skilled lights but too bad he will be distracted by his wonderful explosions of doom to hear the operative coming behind him and killing him. Heavies by nature are open battlefield warriors, the most dangerous place to be.

Operative Light, stays in the shadows and remains unseen, can only be killed if you can get him before he gets to cover and runs away, not only does this class run the least risk during multiplayer gameplay, well maybe not over engineer, but the ohk backstab a move that compromises a heavy whose main advantage is health, nulled by ohk, and main disadvantage is speed disadvantage when trying to protect your back.

No doubt that the dev team will release an ability to balance the ohk but for now I hold this over you, projectile explosives that kill us in one hit travel slow and can be dodged by an observant player, see explosives = run, ohk backstabs are an unseen kill, in games where you dont spectate your body you'll never know what hit you,

nvm your a medic who will self heal youll be relatively safe from me for now......

all these light winning situations depend on lot's of hardly visible high places, do know there are areas where lights will get owned big time.

and pray tell, while all those lights are up high trying to get backstabs, who's gonna stop a group of heavy medics that are going for the objective?

wow

So, um what system will you be playing on?

I say we set up a match of heavies v lights and the winner takes on mediums.

Naw, they are all best at certain things, there are trade-offs to each. A heavy can hold his ground better than a light. A light can get to high places a heavy can't. Determining who will win is largely situational. The environment is gonna be a huge factor and from what Ive seen there aren't too many places where a light can get to that anyone can't shoot at. The only good thing that is gonna come of getting to high ground that I can see so far is for flanking. Even then it looks like it would take a blind man to miss a light going by.

Well backstab the medic then throw a sticky grenade on the corpse. If they self revive they get 5 seconds before exploding, problem solved. Or shoot them once they are down, no reviving then,

Objectives are a secondary concern since when heavies go to take it everyone will kno, ill SMART over to my command post with my fellow ninjas get out my nade launcher and explosive snipe the objective, you need a diverse team and heavies cannot fill enough roles to beat lights.

To above post: I was assuming he was smart enough to back into a corner while healing/self healing, most people on the forums grasp the game well, i will use that strategy on plenty of other noobs tho.

Unfortunately ill be playing on the xbox due to friend reasons and im too broke to buy it for the pc too.

Objectives are not a secondary concern. If you fail the main objective, you lose the game. Lose the team deathmatch mentality. This isn't MW2, where if you get 25 kills in a row and have the nuke killstreak set on, you can end the game. There is an objective that needs to be completed and or defended. What if the objective was to defend the machine like in the container city. What if lights are protecting it? They won't stand a chance. Heavies would do a better job of that. You also can't hold a grenade launcher as a light. The setup the CEO was using in container city was modded. You can only use pistols, revolvers, and machine pistols as sidearms. And SMGs and Rifles as primaries. Your only other explosive option is the grenade. That will be in limited supply. Or what if the place is like the reactor core? All heavies have to do is defend the area. Hold them off. And there isn't apparently many vantage points. And even then, a heavy and a few turrents should be able to easily hold them off. But in a mission where say, the objective was to achieve something, that would be different. Than lights would stomp heavies. Its all about the objective and the map. And most importantly, the skills of the players.

Actually, this also might not be true. Grenade damage was boosted in many of the videos we've seen, to show them off or something. So much of the gameplay we've seen will not actually be true, at least as far as balancing issues go.

Besides, what you're suggesting sounds totally unbalanced. Do you really want one body type or class to be better than any other? Balance is what's needed. Each body type and class will, optimally, be useful for different things, but balanced.

If we run to their spawn and kill them before they get out and have an explosives team on the obj then heavies will never reach the objective there
fore making it a secondary concern when you can put a cap on a teams spawn you rage quit ive done his in many games.

To above post lights are simply harder to dominate with, when you go around ohk at full speed while doing parkour you win, when you step into the open firing your minigun named natacha you look kinda cool and support your team, until i backstab you, games are tactical being able to flank will win you many a game.

No spawn trapping. You will get gunned down by the indestructible spawn protecting turrents.

There is also nothing stopping heavies and mediums from using pistols. So keep that in mind.

Mediums maybe, heavies good luck getting behind my back.....,
Mediums cannot use nade launcher too my knowledge, it is a heavy weapon but dont quote me tho,
Spawn turrets have range limits, most alternate exit routes wont be available to heavies so it wont be a problem anyway. Just as a warning if you pass a corner going out of your spawn ill be there.

Correction we can't get inside the spawn zone or in range of the turrets there is nothing against setting a perimeter just outside of the area.

Also yes mediums and heavies can use pistols but why would they when they could bring bigger guns?

can't spawncamp, and anyways, lights aren't so fast they'd get to the enemy spawn before the heavies can get out...

Exactly, if you can think of a way to defeat lights now enlighten me

And yes heavies would get out but you act like you wont die, we can get across the map 3 times faster than you using the same route, light only alternate routes ever faster, if you ever been surrounded in your spawn youll understand.

Im just saying that one heavy couldnt kill everyone, but one light or amazing medium could theoretically go on a insane knife spree and then camp your spawn pretending to be a heavy.
Kudos to you if you as a heavy can somehow hunt me down and kill me while I exit my spawn via rooftop

But I will end this argument because what you said is true all classes are balanced, lights just have more opportunity to get easy kills that dont rely on team play making a group of them considerably more dangerous than the black plauge.

They would have to do it directly. They can also get a soldier to shield one of the heavies to break the spawn trap. Get out, and accomplish/destroy the objective. And the spawns do switch up.

Faster swap? Good power in a small package (on some guns). I'll probably use it on machine pistols and revolvers with my medium engineer.

Already enough heavy vs light love now is time to open up and invite mediums to the fight. Now go and discuss who would win the fight and why.

So which will win?

Enjoy the links!

If I was to go realistically, I would be a light build character. Also I find it cool that build can basiclly Parkour, a sport I am fond of.

I don't think there is a one hit kill melee.

If there is, they soldier shielding dies, and the medic who is no longer shielded will notice (unless he is a completely oblivious idiot) and kill you. All it takes is one guy to escape. Pay him no mind, and he can destroy the objective. Winning the game.
