Introducing Kinect Support for 360 #2

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:37 pm

This isn't really something I'd be personally interested in (or be able to use), but voice commands do seem like a natural fit for a game that features shouting.

Cool to see they're still putting in some stuff from that game jam (I'd like that chain weapon!), and good to know there'll be some news on DLC soon.

I don't own or ever intend to own a Kinect but I'm rather impressed by the functionality on display there. Wouldn't mind it being given just voice command recognition with a headset if it could be done also calling followers by name would be spiffy. Now about those spears in gamejam Bethesda.... :poke:

A have a couple of friends who have ME3 and they say they love it. Yes you can command your followers by voice. I'll wait for Skyrim as I don't really like the Mass Effect series. I'm definitely looking forward to it. It should be cool.

Wow I've never seen so many people complain about something that's free. It's not like Bethesda said "Hey fans, F you, we're releasing Kinect support and then cutting all patch and DLC progress, hahahahah take that!"

It even says that this month they will have more news on upcoming add-ons and that the Kinect support is in a patch, which I'm willing to bet will hold more fixes.

:deal: Reading helps.
Well said dude, people is crazy

OK, I had to get rid of a bunch of posts. This thread is not a Platorm War nor is about Mods on Consoles.

This thread is for discussing Kinect and Skyrim and how you think it will work or not work and whether or not it is for you.

I feel it's a great addition, but not something we necessarily "need". My mom got a 360 last year (Kinect version) so I have a Sensor to use once this does finally arrive. Did everyone forget that a dub basically modded in a sense his Kinect Sensor to work with Skyrim?

There was a YT vid of it and all, voice commands the whole nine yards. Wonder if that dude got a job? LOL.

Certainly surprised me when I got on XBL this morning and saw "See the trailer, harness Kinect power".. like wait what? Did I just read that correctly? :D

for me, the voice commands is just basic stuff.

i look at all the other aspects in that video and just say, hell yes.

like i've said, it will affect the actual gameplay, let alone, the convenience factor that some seem to think it's only about.

Nah, we were getting off-topic here, it's cool. ^^

That said back to the topic for me:

I am not so much excited about voice commands, still, I sure as hell hope they will be available on the PC later with a microphone as well, as I am about new locations and quests. Although I will need to get out of the forum and the wiki for a month, in order to not get spoilered...

Oh and motion controlled combat would be fun as well, although I think the hardware of the 360 is to limited for that. (I read that the 720 might get a 16-core-cpu just to make a better implemantation of Kinect into high profile games possible without making concessions in other areas a necessity.)

We only get that, because it is not possible on consoles. ;)

Exactly. Like Kinect support.

Narp, voice support is perfectly feasible on every platform and that is all the Kinect support they are including will be.

actually, if they are adding it in the game I can't really see that being a feature controller users don't get.

If you don't realize you can sort by pressing buttons what will make you realize you can sort with your voice (speaking of non-forum goers at least)

If they add the feature in there will have to be some sort of visual cue that you can do it so as to not be completely missed by people.

In short: I think we are gonna get inventory sorting either way.
I really hope so but Bethesda might not think the way we do.

well i actually think kinect to skyrim seems cool, but i dont have kinect and dont plan to buy kinect. But great for people that have kinect

Same here. This is some fantastic technology and software mixture. To have kinect for a game of Skyrim's caliber and style of play is definitely futuristic. Its only a matter time where it trinkles down in other forms to other systems even if its not kinect.

I'm wondering if this will work for Kinect for Windows? I'd consider buying one if it does. A combination of PC controls and Kinect functionality might be really efficient for playing...and fun too!

I don't like kinect, I don't like move, I don't like any of this motion technology. Maybe in a decade or so when the technology actually works but right now it's a waste of money. It only brings in more mindless drooling zombies who buy games en masse only to complain why they are so bad and 'mainstream'

It's you people!!! your the ones doing this to games >.<

It's just voice commands...

Which is why I sure as hell hope, that in the end it will come to the PC as well. I mean, we had headphones and mics even before there was online multiplayer for consoles. ;)

the voice sofware is built into the kinect and the kinect software, bethesda will not create its own software to appease the ps3 and pc crowd. Too mucy resources

There already is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5626 for the PC, so too much resources is no valid excuse! However the mod is a bit tedious to get to work, so I would welcome official support.
