Sniper-Hate in Brink?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:54 pm

Point being most ppl that hav the option of sniping will jus camp (cod is not the only guilty game of having campers, bfbc2 is really bad with it 2 along with others), which is why snipers and sniper rifles are out.

Except that snipers and sniper rifles are not out, they are just not focused on either.

also with my experiences with bfbc2 if you are playing deathmatch camping gets you no where. Mosts maps are far to big for you to sit in one spot and keep up on kills with me who is running around like a bat at of hell trying to find as many people as i can.

If I get sniped, I see it as more of my own fault for being out in the open where a sniper could get me. So they don't bother too much, if at all. But imo it will be a nice change to not have to worry about said snipers in Brink.

I think there should be snipers. the light body type should be less powerful but have a fast fire rate. Medium should have moderate damage and fire rate. Heavy should be big damage but slow fire rate. I people are concerned about camping, the creators of brink should make snipers either get less EXP per kill or have not very many camping spots. I think Brink has it about right in the light rifle department. I am curious since there are ways and abilities to increase your health, how does that connect to the power of those guns? They take 2-3 hits to kill, with normal health? With the increased health factor a light rifle could then take what, 3-5? This is just speculation, but I am not making a huge fuss about it. The guys behind this game have really focused on balance and how to implement it so I have faith in them.

I'm thinking that it will be 1-2 with the bolt action, and 3-5 with the semi-autos. Unbuffed of course. With health buffs it will probably add another 1 to 2 bullets, respectively. Either way you're not going to be able to run around quickscoping everybody, so that's really all I care about.

Honestly, I think no sniper rifle should take more than 4 hits to kill. Having to hit someone 3 times is almost bad enough in B:BC2. Although, an extremely rewarding moment last weekend: hit an enemy Recon class as he was retreating back to the next set of M-COM stations 3 times with the SVU from really super far away and killed him. I know that guy must have been super pissed. Back on topic, 2 body shot kills on Medium and Light, 3 for Heavy with the bolt action seems completely reasonable. 3 hits for Light/Medium and 4 for the Heavy for the semi-auto.

Seems odd to be complaining or suggesting how to balance the short rifles when no one knows how the bodytypes are balanced or how many hits/headshots it takes to kill

i vote for hell no.

there are enough camper hide games out there. this is supposed to be a teamwork centered game. the vast majority of snipers in games do nothing for the team and just hide to get a good k/d

i say dont even have sniper rifles in the game. make brink the one game to stand out for people that hate camping sniperss

So much hate when so many snipers are easy to kill.

snipers are easy to kill.

Depends on their vantage point and skill of the player sniping and the skill of the player trying to kill the sniper

I'm planning on building a Light Operatvie with LR and SMG.

If the build works the way I expect it to, this should be as close as you're going to get to "sniper" in Brink.

But as it says in the Brink Bible, Snipers in Brink are more of a "support" role - softening up targets in a firefight, or finishing off weakened targets.

I don't vote because there's no "I'm still gonna be a sniper" option.

Real sniper don't camp anyway, they fire a couple of shots, then move on before the enemy works out where they're firing from

Like I said before you can't have a LR and SMG as a Light you can only have a pistol for your secondary if your playing as a light

I posted that before you told me though :P

And Machine Pistol will fit as a good backup weapon for a sniper.

Also, regardless of secondary weapon, my point stands. And I'm still gonna be a sniper with at least one build.

Hell to the NO!! I am tired of snipers thinking they are all good because they camp and shoot someone and say that the person they shot svcks. And then there is sniping in CoD.....ooh boy I give these guys kudos for making snipers not snipers anymore. I am pretty sure snipers don't run up to someone and quick scope them. You are in war and you try that....lets just say your mic stops working.

i bet i could snipe effectively with a scoped AR in this game, so ill snipe with that.

most games never support the distance required for a sniper rifle to be effective, and most games have ARs and MGs more accurate and faster ROF than a sniper rifle to begin with.

Its lazy for a developer to not try to balance the type of playstyle and to simply remove a style of play altogether.

Well, at present, I seem to be one of only 2 people arguing that snipers will be viable.

From the looks of things, the damage vs. ROF differences between AR and LR should allow for a skilled sniper to be more effective with Light Rifles, and the AR to be a decent-but-not-great alternative.
