Don't defend Bethesda

Ok so you have made know the issues you were having, still doesnt make sense why there is a need to make 5/10/15/20 threads on the same issue. You have an issue fine report and go about your day. continually making new threads about known issues wont make it get fixed any faster. When I made this account I posted about a quest bug my wife had with thieves guild. I know that others have the same issue (my save doesnt have this issue). Ive also reported about how my wife is stalled in MQ and Civil War lines due to 2 quests that are active for her. I didnt feel the need to make or post in several threads that have mentioned these issues that others have. I know this kind of issue will get fixed, its on their to do list. I will wait patiently for the next patch. People seem to make it seem like this is the only game they have/play and that they have to have a fix 'right now'. Its on its way and then will go through MS/Sony certification process. Fixes will come, just need to give it time.
I think I've only started one or two threads in this forum. One of them was a poll for people to check off the issues that they've had. I can't remember starting another one but I guess I might have. I'm sure that there are some people spamming the forum but I'm not one of them.

As for the "be patient" line; here's the problem with that. I know of people who took time away from work to coincide with the release of this game. The reason they did that was because they are fans of Bethesda games and they know how you can get wrapped up in them. At my age, there are a number of things that I have to juggle. Between family, job, relationship, etc. I have my hands full. When you dig out a niche in your life to enjoy something and it blows up in your face, it can kind of bug you.

The main thing is that I am actually an extremely patient person. In fact, I could have waited another 3 or 4 months for this game to come out and it wouldn't have bothered me at all. I wish they had taken the extra time to iron out the kinks in the game so that we wouldn't be dealing with these issues right now because my window for being able to spend hours playing the game every day closes this monday.

I think it's important that we keep posting and keep as several of you put it "whining" and "complaining" about the problems we experience, particularly textures, as it does currently seem that they are ignoring a HUGE issue. People can minimize it all they want but the fact is this game looks worse than any other 360 game when the textures stop working, and Bethesda knew about it before shipping the game. So they made an active choice to ship the game for 360 with a potentially large problem instead of postponing the release for the sake of a date. Even worse is the fact that it seems to be completely random, the people being affected. Which leads me to believe that they really don't know what the problem is (their caching system is still my guess). I'm having a hard time believing a developer like Bethesda can't get textures right when everyone has (basically) the same hardware.

im still trying to replicate this texture issue people saying about, ive seen couple odd ones, but not like screen shots others posting. i load up it looks like fine i go to menu and back it looks same. rage is good but that has habbit of displaying full textures bit slow, but cant get mine to act same on skyrim.

Sorry anyone that takes time out of work just to maximize the amount they can play a game (whether it was for Skyrim, WoW or whatever) needs to learn to better prioritize things. I love WoW and I love Bethesda games but youll never see me take off work just to play, course I dont feel the need to go through a game as fast as possible, I play when I can and have clock about 100 hours into Skyrim and have had it since day 1).

Its a caching issue synonymous with hdd installation, although people have experienced it off the disk. It basically dumbs down textures for LOD but they didn't impliment it that well.

Haha okay, "advlt". You got one thing right; these are the issues forums, not the Bethesda doesn't care about my emotions forum. Its one thing to point out an issue then move on with your life. Its another to repeatedly complain about issues and accuse Bethesda of ignoring them or not "caring". People like you are a dime a dozen and it's funny to think that when the next patch comes out you'll insist it was a direct of your bickering and mudslinging and they would have never got around to fixing it otherwise. It would break your heart if you ever found out how many games had to get patched on Xbox since their release.
With the bolded part-Who are you talking to? I know it's not me because I never complained about Bethesda ignoring issues or not "caring" (why did you put quotes around that word anyway?).

Judging by this post and your earlier "occupy protest" comment, it seems like you've decided that I'm a draft-dodging, pot-smoking, long-haired, tree-hugging hippie. Maybe you want to teach me and the rest of the commies why good old corporate USA kicks ass!

Look, I've definitely tried to do things to help the forum serve its purpose. I created that poll to try to guage the frequency of occurance of the various issues. I was hoping that it might help them prioritize their fix list. You, on the other hand, have not done anything helpful to anyone.

Let me say I have never seen a more constructive thread in my entire life... and man did I read some forums.
The great arguments both sides make to state their points, the fact there is no name calling etc.. My hat off to all of you..

OK ... Irony mode off.

1. There is a significant number of users(at least on this board) which have either have huge technical issues or MQ breaking glitches. Do they have a right to be angry. Yes.
2. Is opening a thread stating you're angry useful... No. Given the fact there are glitches and bugs, the only way to make sure that they are going to be ironed out is to use the specific threads which deal with them. Simply state the problem that occurs and when you encountered it. Expressing your disappointment or anger when posting is off course perfectly legit.
3. The fact that the game "is broken" for a significant number of users does not imply that either most players have these problems nor does it imply that all players have these problems. If one takes a broader perspective it is perfectly legit to appreciate what Bethesda has done with Skyrim. If a player didn't encounter either the (not globally effecting) texture glitch or any broken quests the game is by far the most stable Bethesda RPG has produced. (on the other hand for me it is the firts Bethesda RPG which made quests break.. so just a little fact to point out)
4. Whether you like it or not: The architecture of the different platforms and considering the manpower which is needed to produce huge games like this is enormous. Considering the revenues in the gaming industries there is a lot of pressure to bring games to the market asap. As a result there is hardly a single game which doesn't need patching after release. Is that acceptable? One might argue it's not. Should we blame the publisher or the industry..? That's what the real question is.
5. There is no need to patronize users who do have unacceptable (for them) issues. They just paid $60 or even worse €60 for a game that either doesn't deliver or which they cannot play properly.

Concluding:
Both sides have a right to their opinion. The game as such is a huge accomplishment and people should be allowed to applaud it. However a significant number of users have huge problems and should be able to share their disappointment or anger with the final product.
It is however unnecessary imho to open multiple threads on either point of view. All it leads to is threads like this one. Threads with a lot of either focussed or onfocussed criticism of either pov.
If there is one point that is valid about all the criticism and or praise.
Bethesda should learn from all the criticism and learn to adress complaints better. They have a great medium in these forums and also their blogs. IE as I stated in previous threads. Be upfront about problems that exist, state what the steps are going to be which are going to be tackled and when, give us possible workarounds etc... Then again the state of the industry, sadly, is that they are not the only developer who could take this lesson to heart.

It's not about taking time off to play a game. It's about scheduling things based around a number of different factors.

In my case, for example, I had 10 vacation days left for this calendar year. I needed to save at least 3 of them for the holidays. My girlfriend was leaving town for 2 weeks beginning on the 27th. I basically decided that the combination of all of these things and the fact that I had Skyrim meant that using 5 days this week would have been a good idea. I could have gotten a lot of playing in before my life came back to the fore. Unfortunately, the week began with patch 1.2 and it turned into a week of hanging out with my friends, drinking and participating in an internet forum.

So all your saying is that Bethesda should not enjoy the holidays and work 24/7 on fixing their game? You already said it in your post, they relesed a game during the holiday seasons, Roger, got it. But a game this BIG, This complex takes times, even they stated that fixing one bug in a game this big could potentianlly cause havoc with the games code. I spent the 160 for the CE. Yea im a little upset, but it doesnt mean im not having fun exploring the world they crafted. Your the reason the game is collecting dust, your like the other idiots that blast bethesda for releasing it. Hey guess what you didnt have to buy it, but you did. So go play your other games cause yes there are other games that need to played or why not pop Skyrim in what ever console or gaming rig you have, Enjoy the 70+ hours that i know that isnt broken and shut the [censored] up. Enjoy your Holidays like Bethesda and everyone else is going to.

When a game is borderline unplayable (ps3 version) and the game looks worse than was shown (texture issues) than you as a developer has failed not only the consumer but also yourself.
It's a univeral rule, when you bring a product to the market, make sure it meets your promises. You don't wanna be seen as a untrustworthy developer now would you? Bethesda is growing to be the laughing stock of the entire game business. A game that isn't even playable on a certain console.

What the F man, what are we even debating about?
Their last two games earned them a nice amount of awards, both of which winning Game of the Year. So there goes your "laughing stock" remark.

And another thing that you and demonboy should know, is that you guys are associating the 1.2 patch as the same game that released at launch or the 1.1 version, which were both very playable.

It's the 1.2 patch that messed things up big time and people act like November 30th was November 11. The patch was a mistake, the launch game wasn't.

Get over yourselves.

It's funny how I see someone of the same people who played Oblivion and said the same thing about never touching another Bethesda game. Later, they buy Fallout 3 and say the same thing. Later, they buy Fallout New Vegas and say the same thing. Later, they buy Skyrim and say the same thing. If you don't want to buy a game that doesn't have bugs upon release that won't get fixed right away and will not meet the expectations of the promises made by the developer, then please don't ever buy another game developed by Bethesda. I can promise you that the next game (be it Fallout 4, or whatever) that is produced or developed by Bethesda will be in the same boat that Skyrim is in right now. Knowing that, I urge you to actually back up what you say and stop buying these games and GTFO.

Me, on the other hand, I don't really care. Am I a part of the problem that promotes lazy developing? Maybe, but I don't really give a flying f****. Before I bought Skyrim, I knew what I was getting myself into. If I cared about any of that nonsense that you all cry about, I wouldn't have bought the game to begin with. A company is allowed to produce whatever the hell they want to produce. You are not being forced to buy it. We all have a brain. Please use it.

In the end, I get the feeling that it isn't really Bethesda that you have a problem with. I believe that you just enjoy pissing and moaning. However, this is my own opinion, and I could be wrong.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not posting this with the hopes that I would have finally brought the light to your eyes. I realize that nothing anyone will say under the sun will make your change the way you feel and your need to cry about a game that isn't working for you. I am posting this for no reason what so ever. Maybe in some way, I am entertained by bringing to light the shortcomings of our sad little society in the same way that many of you are entertained by complaining about things that will never be cared about, by anyone. Am I wasting my time right now? Sure, but I'm having fun doing it, so I don't really give two s***** if you care or not. Just like I have no problem enjoying a game that has some bugs that don't happen to be game breaking for me. If they were game breaking, I would play another game in the mean time until it got patched up, thanks to my amazing zen-like patience.

Now that I have enjoyed myself making this useless post, I shall now go enjoy myself playing Skyrim, the best RPG I have ever laid eyes upon in my lifetime, while many of you continue to whine on this forum. But hey, I'm not hating on ya. If you have fun crying on these forums like the emo you probably are, then more power to ya. Everyone should have the chance to do what they enjoy, even if it includes bashing a company that probably gets a nice 'lol' out of reading some of this asinine nonsense. Cheers!

I love Bethesda and am a huge supporter of their company, but they knew about some of these quests being broken before the game was released, and especially with patch 1.2. With that patch, they either did not properly test it out, or they knew about the potential problems and just decided to roll the dice with it and worry about the consequences after the holidays are over. I'm betting it was a mix of the two.

For me personally, due to the latest patch, I can't even play anymore until it's fixed. My character has no resistance or armor rating. The same goes with Shadowmere and my followers. I have a full set of powerfully enchanted Legendary Daedric armor on, but get killed by everything. I couldn't even beat a single Forsworn. He hit me with 2 arrows and I was dead. My followers don't even get that. One hit from anything and they die. The real kicker is that I can't even clear my cache and play offline without it because my save files are "on a newer version of the game". When the patch was initially released, I was finishing up some Thieves Guild radiant quests, which require no combat, so there way no way for me to know until it was too late. Needless to say, all of my autosaves are from the current patch and my manual saves are also on there.

All I'm saying is that while there are many people out there who can play just fine with few or rare minor problems, there are still plenty of other people out there like me with real game problems. When I shell out the money for a company's product and invest well over 100 hours into it, I expect it to work properly, without severe game-breaking issues. If not, then at the very least they should be rotating shifts DURING the holidays to correct their mistake. Others may not agree, but I feel that it is the necessary course of action to be held accountable. Everybody has a right to their own opinions though.

Until you under stand programming and the complexity of it, you have no room to complain. You think its 'so' easy to create something complex and expect it bug free. Thats almost impossible. When I was in college I took a java class that had me create an interactive script. I built a house where you could open/close the door and turn off/on the lights. There were also buttons to change the seasons and change the house color. As simple as that may seem to be for a script it was a few hundred lines of code broken down into several files. Its very easy that something in that code could have collided with the rest (took me a day or so to figure out how I could get the script to remember when you open/close the door it would remember the state of the lights being on/off.

You were a student in college.

For all the folks making metaphors about other products, software isn't other products. You agree to the terms of the product, both written and social agreements, that software will inevitably have bugs, and that the developer will patch them over time.

if you are not aware of that or cannot understand that, i encourage you to reconsider purchasing software in the future. you're not going to find any software that doesn't launch with bugs and post-launch patch support. that is a fundamental part of software design and its not changing because you're butthurt over a broken quest.

my resistances are still broken. I've had more laughs about it than I have whines. TBH, that's the only bug I just can't comes to terms with, as it effectively destroyed the fun factor based off of certain decisions I had made during the evolution of my character.

Could I keep playing around it? Of course.

Do I want to? Hell no.

Is it acceptable? It shouldn't be...

Coding while going to school and coding for a big name company is one and the same. Just cause my coding doesnt do much doesnt change the fact its along the same lines as developing code for a video game. While a school project is definitely smaller its not without its issues when trying to solve why something is broken. Also stemming from the fact that Ive done Customer Service for various companies, I can understand that its not easy to quash issues that arise. And that most customers think that a fix is easy to do or should not have happened in the first place.

I agree with you there on everything you said.

The real problem lies in the fact that it was allowed to happen to everyone playing their game. PC users via Steam didn't even have an option.

I have no misconceptions about the complexities of coding.

My resistances are still broken.

And its only for some, thats what makes it hard to anticipate an issue like this will pop up, I would concede the argument if it was happening to everyone but its not.

Do your resistances still work? How could they not have noticed that resistances were broken?

I just downloaded the patch and frankly, i havn't come across one problem yet that everyone is complaining about :/ no backwards dragons, textures look better, and i'm pretty sure my resistances are working because i am a nord and was walking in the cold for like half an hour without a problem (seeing how they have resistance to cold)

but, PLEASE FIX THE LOADS OF QUESTS THAT ARE BROKEN BETHESDA!!! It pisses me off that i pay $60 for a game that has numerous unfinishable quests
