PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #17

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:55 am

I want to play good working games not half made buggy games.

And that is basiclly what we have here. Beth signed an agreement with Xbox they would get the DLC 1st and then after 30days release it for everyone else.

Has anyone thought that Beth might not be releasing the DLC for PS3 until the exculsivity with Xbox and Microsoft ends completely?

I've been trawling the internet for places to discuss and voice my opinions on this matter but most topics degenerate into 'Boycott next ELDUZ SCROLLZZ' really what does that solve?

First off, make no mistake I love Bethesda and have done for years. Some of the most epic games i've played in recent years have left their premises but unfortunately they have made me angry of late.

Microsoft sadly have Bethesda's metphoric scrotum in a tight, vice-like grip, and money makes the world go round - which in turn makes DLC come round for X-Box first. It's sadly getting to a point where Microsoft are trying to monopolise the market. I've been playing games since the NES days and luckily i accepted the 'passion' side of gaming is long dead. X-Box go first on all the DLC's, not just on Bethesda titles but other devs and pubs too. Its Microsofts infinite pot of money, but i also point the finger at Sony, for not fighting back and throwing money at competing with this nonsense.

I digress, my main point is being left out in the dark for so long, loyal old PC users must have been fuming, as are us PS3 users. We had no updates until recently, they roll out DLC for Fallout games which works and runs on a different engine i know, but the scope and sheer scale is still there - almost. So how is it so to get to us? Shouldn't they have thought this through before taking our money off us on release date? Also our money for past Bethesda games and there DLC? How could they have not forsaw this, it's not like the PS3 is a new console, many devs have it's workings nailed, so again why not Bethesda? It even took lightyears for certain patches to come our way.

I'm not familiar with how hard it is to make games, and i realise it's 'not that simple' if you like- it never is but all i ask is to either be kept up to date more often, or forwarned, or even cut back on the MS Bias so we don't have to put up with MS gamers teasing us. Wow, i'm a 22 year old male and i'm ranting about being teased online -_-.

Have Bethesda finally confirmed anything more or do i have to borrow my friends x-box (I wouldn't mind making another character) As i've read the reviews on the DLC and would still like to try it. Or do we get shafted and have to wait for a GOTY edition with them all on a disc? I've read the post on the blog but are they not able to be any more specific?

I'll shut up now.

Then PC would not have DG if that was the case.

well the argument was essentially against the idea of not releasing any DLC to anyone but Xbox until the exclusivity contract was up completely.

But I do think the only reason why PC got dawnguard is because they have workarounds when it comes to bugs and glitches.

Both systems have very good exclusives, but when a game is released across multiple platforms it should get equal treatment across all platforms.

Just like the CoD series is. You never hear about those guys complaining....

oh wait a sec...

This is what happens when game companies get too greedy and try and launch multi platform games.

Look what happened when Square-Enix launched Finial Fantasy across both platforms. The game stunk, the fans hated it and they hated themselves for releasing it. Admittidly they learnt from their mistake and managed to release a half decent sequal.

What ever happened to the days of console exclusives games. there are too few now-a-days. Xbox has the fabel series and PS3 has uncharted but thats about it.

Developers need to go back to basics, stop trying to cash in and release decent games for each console.

Just for clarification. You mean Final Fantasy ##?

Its been said that is the case by some, but who knows exactly besides Microsoft and Bethesda.

Saying this yet again: Microsoft 30 exclusivity is an annoyance at worst. The issue is Bethesda not having all versions of its DLC ready when the 30 day waits are over. And as Tweet Hines said the exact same thing when asked about Heartfire, we can prolly expect delays across the board again. With PC coming out after a week or so of silence and the PS3 version......

The whole industry is ruined because of this, Microsoft are new to the game. Only arriving 2 gens ago, and they start throwing cash and calling all the shots.

I remember in the early 90's the worst it got was ' Genesis does what Nintendon't ' at least thats fair competition, in all fairness though Sony should do more to help us, by at least throwing a little bit of cash towards making MS only have 15 day headstart on us, or something like that.

So..The "new" update being told to us says that its still not working, and since they now are working on other new dlc's, tht they have even less manpower/resources for DG-PS3?!?! Am i the only one who sees this as one of the big problems with the gaming industry as a whole? That (in their minds) its absolutely 'ok' to continue releasing new content, sell it to us, BEFORE fixing the origional release?! This is simply unprofessional on many levels...How dare you have the audacity to continue working on new content while many of us are still waiting to be able to play the vanilla skyrim from TEN months ago, a 2-3 month late dlc, a SECOND dlc, all while blowing sunshine up our ass's!!! Skyrim still crashes, still freezes on loadup, to name few, and youve given ps3 players the finger with Dawnguard, youve now releases Hearthfire, and coninue to talk as if its ok...

Nothing new has been reported on Dawnguard...You simply reiterate the same thing once per month! "Its broke, we'll let you know if/when its fixed...Oh, btw..Heres 2dlc 360 30 exclusives as a added F U to the 'once' loyal ps3 players!" How many times must it be said..If the what and why of the ps3 dawnguard problem would be publcly spoken, MUCH if nt all the anger would diminish!

Thanx for nothing...You can add on more loyal fan to your growing list of no longer willign to support a [censored] company!

I agree with some of what your saying but you can't be calling them a poo company or you obviously wouldn't be getting as frustrated as you are. The gripe is Bethesda just don't listen, do they forget that PS3 is a 1/3 of their market?! I do agree strongly on one point you make, if a product is struggling to be released, why not fire more men at it? Instead they tell them to keep their heads down and keep making 360 users happy, i'd bet it they just have apprentices and cleaners working on the PS3 Dawnguard now...

Honesty i don't get the point of exclusive deals, So XBOX gets the Dlc earlier does that mean everyone is gonna just go and switch to xbox to play it? NO literally all it does is let xbox users deal with the game breaking bugs, take the pitt from fallout 3, didn't work on xbox when it first came out and then they had to spend either an day to fix

same DLC comes out On ps3 in october, works pefectly fine ;)

Maybe he is just happy to finally get an optimistic comment about Skyrim on the PS3 rather than the pure pessimistic hate he has been receiving.

It's also funny because that one comment was the guy's only tweet in almost a year.

I'm not a twitter guy by any means (seriously, I don't use it), but I know those that tweet typically stay active with it.

As much as i was vigorously iterating the bold sentiment, i think its past the point where full transparency would do any good on Bethesda's part.

As a company they can not code for the PS3. They have said as much. And to complete their failure, they've had to run home to Sony and finally break-down and ask for aid.

So as much as i personally would STILL like general updates every so often, what more can they possibly say now(other than an announcement that Dawnguard for the PS3 is finally ready) that wouldn't inflame further their already angry PS3 customers? 'Caught between a rock and a hard place' doesn't even begin to cover the mess Bethesda has gotten themselves into.

I just hope that IF dawnguard and hearthfire come to PS3 that it is an International release.

It is going to [censored] a lot of players off if they launch in NA 1st and EU a week or two later

You make a good point. Still though after all though my FO:NV:UE copy is still laden with bugs and the pack where you go to big MT is completely unplayable? So not only are we stung with the wait, but not all bugs are ironed out. I appreciate everbodies copy and save file is different though. All i'm going to have to do is just sit tight, we have Resi 6 on the horizon, aswell as a few other releases. I just get wound up with how some parties involved in this mess play the game.

You could say the title is misleading sure, but the actual video is pretty much spot on save for one bit imo. And that one thing i don't agree with doesn't make the actual video bad, especially since the author states that its expressly his opinion.

I know this will make me sound like a complete dike, but I'm actually enjoying them twisting in the wind a bit, because if they continue to fail and eventually admit that they sold a broken product (directly or indirectly), they're going to face a big lawsuit.
