How do you feel about the games success?

The game's success is well-deserved, but I don't think it could have been achieved without diluting....sorry, "streamlining" aspects for the console crowd. I would have preferred it a little more pure in the PC sense, but they gotta make a buck on this.

I think it'll make the next game deeper. They'll realize they over simplified it this time and pull back to the manageable compromise that was Oblivion.

So you mean you want them to make a game so less people can enjoy it?

I also want you to define how the game is "streamlined" compared to the earlier game in the same series.

I find Skyrim to be a smoother ride than it's predecessors...that doesn't necessarily mean streamlined. I suspect that TES 6 will have more specialization and likely introduce some past elements as well as new ones, partly because it may be released on more powerful consoles. (and PC's).

One of the best games I ever played. Definitively deserves the attention.

It sounds like some people here would've been happier if it hadn't sold well.

This entire series offers something no other game has till this date and with this latest installment Bethesda put their franchise on the spot for all players to see and to play. To bad it cost us spell creation, attributes, dialog, journal, graphical and technical advancement that we have enjoyed seeing improved with every other game this franchise has given us in the past.

Skyrim deserves the praise because it offers us something no other game has till this date but does it deserve praise in comparison to it's predecessors, I think not.

I think it's fair to say the game is a massive success. From 10m+ sales to pop culture references. Unheard off for any RPG.

I am only a tiny fraction in the TES story, I bought the last 3 games, but it kinda makes me feel proud that game is so well embraced by the masses and media. Doesn't really sink in how popular the game is until i go to Youtube. It feels like there is only one game you should be playing at the moment and that is Skyrim.

Bethseda have made it trendy to be an RPG'er.

Anyway, how do you feel that TES is now a blockbuster franchise, especially if you have been there from the start?

TES WAS a blockbuster franchise. I have been playing TES RPG's since Daggerfall.

Sales only tell half the story, just like "Positive Reviews". The other half of the story is ignored not only my the butt kissing gaming publications but also by Behtesda themselves.

Better Questlines:

I found the College of Winterhold questline of exploring the ruins of Saarthal, and uncovering the mysteries of the Eye of Magus far more intriguing than running random errands for guild masters to get a recommendation.

Got to comment on this:

Running minor errands at first is what you are supposed to do as a f*cking new member. The Guild Questlines in Oblivion were far, far, better than the ones in Skyrim (with the exception of the DB, that one was on the same level). You have got to earn their trust first by doing mundane tasks and if you do that you get the satisfaction of a great questline.

But character building wise I like Skyrim more. After my first character I put Oblivion aside for 2 years, then after the next character for another 2 years and played with Oblivion XP, which gives a far better feeling than Vanilla Oblivion.

Oh and it definitely deserves the success it still is a great game, just not as great, as it could have been. I am looking forward to Modders adding Guilds.

Pretty estatic and I can't wait for DLC.

Not surprised that the haters are ripping Skyrim apart for being better then it's Predecessors.

By the way do we have any hard evidence of the game`s success, say compared to other games?

I sometimes feel like I`m at a political party conference where someone popss up and says "Our party is the best!" and everyone cheers, but it`s never quite the reality.

I frequent a couple other forum where exactly the same kind of thing comes up periodically. Some nameless forumer posts up to say some game is the most successful ever and has even won 2011\2012 awards already!

And no one ever post any hard evidence.

They can`t ALL be magnificently successful. Can they?

Broken, unfinished games shouldn't be awarded with success.

Good for Bethesda and folks that like Skyrim. However, it shows a worrying trend of how quantity over quality mentality rules these days. No need for Beth to really make anything with real substance and complexity that encourages thinking, when you can make a s*itload of cash by just filling the cup over its edges with tapwater (instead of filling it half with fine wine). And as a sidenote, while this was to be expected from a TES game, this certainly isn't a good sign considering next Fallout (which, probably will be Bethesdas next game).

Regardless of how the game pans out and what faults lie within the game, i think it's a positive thing for single player games in general. Too many devs, rightly or wrongly, seem to think we all want co-op, MP or MMO's, and this game proves if a game is halfway decent, then people will buy and still want to play SP games.

Those people that bang on about devs "selling out" or some other equally inane nonsense just don't want change regardless of what the consequences are. Many developers that 'stayed true' to their roots have either went bust or struggle to release any sort of quality titles. Evolution is good, after all, it's what keeps us coming back for more. That said, devs are never gonna keep everyone happy and those that truly hate how things have evolved are more than capable of playing something else which they do enjoy.

I love the game, and that's all that matters.

I couldn't possibly care less about the overall success (i.e.: what everybody else thinks) of the game.

Good news, as the public has shown game devs they don't all want MMOs, co-op, multiplayer and railroad sp campaigns which lasts less then 10 hours to complete. A great victory for the single-player game.

Yes quite a few things could've been better in Skyrim but lets be thankful that its doing rather well. Now we'll probably have at least the opportunity to complain about TES6 when it gets released.

I have never played a game that freezes so much. I get very pissed often playing this game. I will be just WALKING and boom, my screen freezes. At least once, every time I play this game. You guys svck, learn to make a game that doesn't freeze, when the player is simply walking. Jesus.

At first, i didn't like the game. I felt it was lacking depth of character development. As I played, the game became familiar and is a fun play. Oblivion was deeper as far as the character goes, and visuals were better. But this game is a blast and I have fun playing it. BUT THE FREEZING OH MY GOD. That is all. (Dragon battles are epic...)

id say the best part of skyrim was its beautiful landscapes. for an action adventure game, sure it was fun. Not for an RPG. one good playthrough was all i could take. unlike when i played oblivion for months on end.

I think they were more worried about the radiant quests then actually making decent questlines for the guilds and even the main questline.

I think it's spectacular.

Skyrim's success means that there will be a TES 6, and BGS will have lots of resources to throw at it.

Don't forget even more dumbed down for the casuals.

I think its well deserved and its great to see a game where you can really sense the true passion thats gone into it to be truly successful.

Skyrim is to me a work of art, plain and simple. I haven't experienced this from a game in a long long time and I grew up with 8-bit gaming in the 80's.

Quest Choices:

Paarthurnax. Choice.
In My Time Of Need. Choice.
Civil War. Choice. (Don't believe me? There is
Spoiler
an option to take the crown to the leader of your opposition
Main Quest - The Imperial Legion / Stormcloak negotiations at High Hrothgar. Choice

Acknowledgement of Accomplishments:

Oh, you must be the new recruit to the College of Winterhold.
You absorbed that dragon's soul - you must be... Dragonborn!

Better Questlines:

I found the College of Winterhold questline of exploring the ruins of Saarthal, and uncovering the mysteries of the Eye of Magus far more intriguing than running random errands for guild masters to get a recommendation.

Everything I said has to do with the game on the disc you buy. It's obvious you just want to be bitter, so be bitter, but take your bitterness elsewhere. I enjoy the game, and would like to come here and actually discuss the game, and not be subjected to the negativity of you and others.

-No, that does not mean don't talk about the things you don't like about the game. It means, I am sick of the elitist attitude that anytime anyone defends the game and expresses why the game is good, they are dismissed and considered nothing more than a mindless Bethesda defender. Go away.

Yeah, Im sorry about that.
Im afraid thats what happens when one gets the luminous idea to fire up the pc after coming home from the pub.
Im not usually that ascerbic.

Well, what you say is true, there are choices to be found in the game.
I just wish there would be more of them.
It is usually the guards that make a comment on your skills or gear and Im afraid they annoy me more than anything else.
I would have loved to see the NPC's be a bit more lifelike in their speech. It really gets irritating to hear that one line over and over again just because youre standing next to them.

And there are good parts of the game, many of them. The best is the dungeons, Skyrim is an excellent dungeon crawler.

Yes, bloody casuals who only play for fun! Darn you!!

/sarcasm off

You do realise that these casuals just ensured that there will be a TES 6?
